LIFE WITH LUIGI 1952 CBS. Kinescope. This is an unedited version of the audition for the television version of the popular radio show. Recorded April 6, 1952, without commercials it runs 31 minutes. The series finally aired in September of 1952, but was short lived because of its extreme ethnic stereotyping which was acceptable on the radio, but not television! The great cast includes J. Carrol Naish as Luigi, Alan Reed as Pasquale, Sig Ruman as Schultz, Jody Gilbert as Rosa. THE GOLDBERGS Another long running (1929) radio program made it to TV in its earliest days at the Dumont and NBC Networks in 1949 as a quarter hour show. Starring Gertrude Berg as Molly Goldberg. Also starred Harold J Stone as Molly's husband Jake. With Arlene McQuade as daughter Rosalia and Larry Robinson as son Sammy. This episode originally aired on NBC February 20, 1952. MAMA 1957 CBS. With Peggy Wood as Mama, Judson Laire as Papa, Dick Van Patten and Robin Morgan. Episode, "Mama And The Public Library Book". Mama started on television in 1949.
