FOUR STAR PLAYHOUSE Vol. 1 1952-56 CBS. This half hour anthology series featured appearances mainly by Dick Powell, Charles Boyer, David Niven and Ida Lupino. It was conceived by the stars as a high quality series and they successfully did just that. Others featured through the years were Pat O'Brien, Thomas Mitchell, Frank Lovejoy, Merle Oberon, Teresa Wright and Alexis Smith. Most shows are network prints with commercials. Volume One Dick Powell stars as Willie Dante, owner of Dante's Inferno, a San Francisco nightspot, the only continuing character in the series.
