THE FABULOUS 500 (1952) Three racing films released by Socony Vacuum (Mobil) Oil Co. in color. The 1952 Indy 500 from trials to finish, is presented in nice capsule coverage. The winner was Troy Ruttman, the youngest winner in Indy history, at 22 years old . He earned $61,743.00 for his victory. THE BIG CLIMB (1949) Every July 4th, racers from around the world challenge 14,110-foot Pikes Peak in the "Race to the Clouds," the second oldest motor sports event in America. The race course up Pikes Peak Highway, built in 1915, is 12.42 miles long with 156 turns winding nearly 5,000 feet in elevation change from the start line to the summit. AMERICA'S CHOICE (1948) Fist it's off to Indy for a look at some glorious old time (1900's) race cars. The action filled Albany To New York Boat Race on the Hudson River. Then the 1948 Indy race with winner Mauri Rose who was also the 1947 winner. The thrilling finish is at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
